I Want To Volunteer

All roles within CDH Australia are filled by volunteers and we are always looking for volunteers to help. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact us.

Our volunteer positions include:

Board of Directors

President

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with a background in administration, management and/or governance

Meetings & time commitment:

The Board of Directors meets monthly online using a Skype chat room. Meetings last up to 2 hours.

Typically the time commitment to fulfil this role is up to two hours per week, with occasional fluctuations when special projects are being undertaken

Purpose of role

The President is responsible for overseeing all CDH Australia’s activities including running Board of Directors meetings, coordinating administrative volunteers and liaising with CDH families as needed.

Suitability

This role would suit someone with a background in administration

Meetings & time commitment:

The Board of Directors meets monthly online using a Skype chat room. Meetings last up to 2 hours.

Typically the time commitment to fulfil this role is up to three hours per week, with occasional fluctuations when special projects are being undertaken.

Purpose of role

The Secretary is responsible for maintaining the database of members and preparing and taking minutes for Board meetings. This includes keeping the Register of Members up to date and sending updates to the Registered Office as well as to the President

Treasurer

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with a background in financial administration or accounting.

Meetings & time commitment

The Board of Directors meets monthly online using a Skype chat room. Meetings last up to 2 hours.

Typically the time commitment to fulfil this role is up to two hours per week, with occasional fluctuations when special projects are being undertaken.

Purpose of role

To oversee the financial administration of the organisation, including the development and review of procedures and financial reporting, bank account maintenance, financial transaction oversight, development and review of budgets and financial policies.

Family Liaison Coordinator

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with a formal/informal background in support services.

Meetings & time commitment

The Board of Directors meets monthly online using a Skype chat room. Meetings last up to 2 hours.

Typically the time commitment to fulfil this role is up to four hours per week, with occasional fluctuations.

Purpose of role

The Family Liaison Coordinator is responsible for the care and co-ordination of all CDH Australia support volunteers

Newsletter Editor

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with excellent organisational skills, has a keen eye for detail and the ability to work without supervision

Meetings & time commitment

Typically this role has a time commitment of one to three hours per week in the preceding month to the release of the newsletter 2 times per annum

Purpose of role

The Newsletter Editor is responsible for gathering all information for the newsletter and forwarding it on to the designer within a designated timeframe

Key areas of responsibility
  • Compile newsletter contributions and forward content to the designer
  • Sending final newsletter to webmaster for publication
  • Notifying families that the newsletter is published
  • Reports to the President
  • Reports to the Board for newsletter approval and with recommendations for newsletter improvements

Funding Officer

Fundraising Coordinator

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with excellent organisational skills and a keen interest in fundraising.

Purpose of role

The Coordinator is responsible for overall management of CDH Australia fundraising activities and events. The are also the contact person for anyone wanting to hold their own fundraising event

Events Coordinator

Suitability

This role is suitable for someone with excellent organisation skills, a keen eye for detail, the ability to work closely with a wide range of people and a love of ‘party planning’

Meetings & time commitment
  • Meetings via Skype as needed with organising committees
  • Typically the time commitment to fulfil this role is up to an hour per week with increases of up to two hours per week when events are coming up.
Purpose of role

The Events Coordinator is responsible for managing the organising committees set up to arrange the CAAF and Sunflower Sunday

Key areas of responsibility:
  • Communicating with and supporting event organising committees
  • Ensuring planning deadlines are met
  • Reports to the Family Liaison Coordinator
  • Reports to the full Board on event plans and with event requests

Support Volunteer

Suitability

The type of person who would suit the role is someone who has the time and an ability to chat and communicate with people easily

Time commitment:

Typically the time commitment is up to one hour per week, with occasional fluctuations when new families need support and events are being undertaken.

A Support Contact primary role is to offer families support and to deliver CDH Australia information to hospitals.

Tasks
  • Is a support base for families
  • Organises the distribution of CDH Australia brochures to hospitals and other appropriate clinics
  • Checks email account daily
  • Liaises with Family Liaison Coordinator
  • Assists in the organisation of CDH Australia’s Annual Forum (CAAF) and Sunflower Sunday
